How to create a Vercel access token (team-scoped, with expiry)
Step by step: create a team-scoped Vercel access token with an expiry, connect it to Lookout, and revoke it when you're done. Takes about a minute.

Before you start
- You need a Vercel account that belongs to the team whose projects you want to see.
- The projects should have Web Analytics enabled in Vercel. Lookout lists the others but can’t track them.
- You need a Lookout account. Sign up free if you don’t have one yet.
Create the token
- Open your Vercel tokens page (Account Settings → Tokens) and click Create Token.
- Name it Lookout, so you can recognize it later.
- Set Scope to the team you want to track. A token scoped to one team can only see that team’s projects, which is what you want.
- Pick an expiration, for example 1 year. You can always create a new one later.
- Click Create and copy the token. It starts with
vcp_, and Vercel shows it only once.
Connect it to Lookout
- In Lookout, open Connect Vercel. You land there after creating your workspace; later, use Add team in Settings. Only workspace owners can connect Vercel.
- Paste the token and click Verify token.
- Pick the team, then the projects to track (up to 100 per workspace). Projects with Web Analytics are preselected.
Your dashboard fills in within a few seconds. To connect another team, repeat this with a token scoped to that team.
What Lookout does with it
Lookout encrypts the token with AES-256-GCM, decrypts it only in memory to call Vercel, and never shows it again. It only calls Vercel’s read endpoints for projects, deployments and Web Analytics: it never deploys, changes settings or reads environment variables.
Revoke it
- In Lookout: Settings → Disconnect next to the team deletes Lookout’s copy.
- In Vercel: delete the token on your tokens page. It stops working everywhere at once.
Common problems
- The team you expected isn’t listed, or “This token can’t see any Vercel team”: the token is scoped to a different team. Create one scoped to the right team.
- “Vercel rejected this token”: it was mistyped, revoked or has expired. Copy the whole token again, or create a new one.
- A project can’t be tracked: it doesn’t have Web Analytics enabled. Turn it on in the project’s Analytics tab in Vercel.
- The dashboard says Lookout lost access: the token was revoked or expired. Create a new one and reconnect from the banner.
Vercel’s own documentation covers tokens in more detail: creating an access token.
