Flow between sites: how visitors move across your projects
See which of your Vercel sites send visitors to which: how Lookout counts a hop from the referrer, why a link can hide it, and how to fix dead ends.

Why flow matters
When a company runs a main site and separate landing pages, each on its own Vercel project, the landing pages exist to send people somewhere: to sign up, to the pricing page, to the main site. Vercel Web Analytics shows each project alone, so it can’t show that hand-off. A landing page with plenty of visitors and nobody going further looks fine there; it’s a dead end.
How Lookout counts a hop
Lookout counts a hop when a visit’s referrer is another site on the same board: a visitor came to your main site from your launch page, for example. Only sites on the board count, so put a main site and its landing pages on one board. Hops are counted per range, like everything else on the board.
No new script is involved: the referrer is already in the data Vercel Web Analytics collects. That also means a hop is only counted when the browser sends a referrer.
When nothing shows up
- The sites don’t link to each other. A call to action from a landing page to the main site (or back) is what creates a hop.
- The links hide the referrer. A link with
rel="noreferrer", or a site whoseReferrer-Policyisno-referrer, sends no referrer, so the visit looks direct. Between your own sites, userel="noopener"alone;strict-origin-when-cross-origin, the browsers’ default policy, still sends the origin, which is all Lookout needs. Links opened from an app, such as an email client or a chat, often arrive without a referrer too. - The range is too short. On a quiet board, a day may have no hops; try 7 or 30 days.
Reading the Flow view
- Totals: visitors passed to another of your sites, and where most of them went.
- Hops between sites: each pair, with the visitors who made the hop and its share of the sending site’s visitors.
- Dead ends: landing pages where more than 90% of visitors leave without visiting another of your sites. Each comes with a fix prompt: the page’s numbers and the main site to link to, ready to paste into Claude Code or Cursor.
Sending visitors onward is one of the five factors on the landing-page Scorecard, and the hops come from /v1/boards/{id}/flow in the Lookout API. Northwind’s board in the live demo shows a working example.
